King places seven in finals to lead at WCWA Women’s Nationals

ST. LOUIS, Mo. - With seven finalists, including three returning champions, King University leads the team race after the Saturday morning session at the 2015 WCWA Women’s College Nationals held at Missouri Baptist.


Returning champions Haley Augello (119), Sarah Hildebrandt (123) and Julia Salata (155) will be joined by four other teammates in the championship finals, which begin at 6:00 p.m.


One of the finals will include two King athletes, Hildebrandt and Hanna Grisewood at 123 pounds.


The morning session featured semifinal action plus wrestlebacks through the consolation semifinals, setting up all of the medal matches for the next session.


King has 245 points, a commanding 65 point lead over Oklahoma City, with 185 points. Just three points back in third is Campbellsville with 182. Rounding out the top five is Simon Fraser with 146 and Lindenwood with 136.


Three-time WCWA champion Emily Webster will go for her fourth WCWA title, facing freshman Marina Doi of King in the 101 finals. Webster is seeking to become just the third four-time champion in women’s college wrestling history.


Ottawa University, a first-year program, earned its first championship finalist, as Brandy Lowe reached the 191 finals, where she will face top seed Tiara Scott of Campbellsville.
