Nine Team USA athletes ranked in February UWW freestyle rankings

The new United World Wrestling men’s freestyle rankings for February 2015 are now available.
There are nine American athletes that are ranked in the top 20 men’s freestyle wrestlers in the world at their weight class.
The top ranked American remains Olympic champion and two-time World champion Jordan Burroughs (Lincoln, Neb./Sunkist Kids/Nebraska RTC) at the No. 3 spot at 74 kg. Burroughs was third at the 2014 World Championships.
The next highest American in the rankings is 2014 World bronze medalist Tervel Dlagnev (Columbus, Ohio/Sunkist Kids/Ohio RTC), who is No. 5 at 125 kg/275 lbs.
Three-time World Team member Brent Metcalf (Iowa City, Iowa/NYAC/Hawkeye WC) moved nine spots from his previous ranking of 17th in the world to the No. 8 spot in 65 kg after a silver medal performance at the Yarygin Grand Prix in Kransnoyarsk, Russia in January and a bronze medal at the Grand Prix of Paris this past weekend.
18-year-old Aaron Pico (Whittier, Calif./Titan Mercury WC), a 2014 Junior World silver medalist, moved up one spot to take over the No. 17 spot at 65 kg.
2014 World Team member Nick Marable (Morgantown, W. Va./Sunkist Kids) moved up from No. 10 to No. 9 in the 70 kg rankings after earning gold at the 2015 Dave Schultz Memorial International in Colorado Springs, Colo. in January.
Four Americans who were not ranked in January joined the international rankings for February. Andrew Howe (Norman, Okla./NYAC) is No. 16 at 74 kg, Clayton Foster (Laramie, Wyo./Grit WC) is No. 17 at 86 kg, Tony Ramos (Iowa City, Iowa/Titan Mercury WC/Hawkeye WC) is No. 19 at 57 kg and Jordan Oliver (Tempe, Ariz./Sunkist Kids) is No. 20 at 65 kg.
Howe won a silver medal at the Yarygin Grand Prix. Oliver and Foster won golds at the Dave Schultz Memorial International and Ramos won gold at the Paris Grand Prix. With Oliver joining the rankings, the USA now has three athletes ranked at 65 kg.
The top ranked freestyle wrestlers in the world in February were: Jong Hak-Jin of North Korea (57 kg), Aleksander Bogomoev of Russia (61 kg), Soslan Ramonov of Russia (65 kg), Khetik Tsabolov of Russia (70 kg), Denis Tsargush of Russia (74 kg), Abdulrashid Sadulaev of Russia (86 kg), Abdusalam Gadisov of Russia (97 kg) and Taha Akgul of Turkey (120 kg).
