INWR Scientific Symposium set for Las Vegas at World Championships, Sept. 5

The International Network of Wrestling Researchers (INWR) will again coordinate a Scientific Symposium at the 2015 World Wrestling Championships in Las Vegas. Working with USA Wrestling and the Scientific Commission of United World Wrestling, the symposium is entitled, “The Next Generation of Wrestlers in the Olympic Movement: Developing Youth, Women and Men for the Future!”
It will be held on Saturday, September 5th at the Orleans Hotel Arena-Gold Room A. The program will run from 8:30 AM to 3:45 PM and consist of three keynote lectures, six mini-lectures of 20 minutes each, a round table of champion wrestlers with audience participation; and 30 poster presentations. According to Dr. David Curby, Director of the INWR and Secretary of the UWW Scientific Commission, “This is a tremendous opportunity for American coaches, sport scientists and sport medical personnel to meet and interact with some of the foremost wrestling experts in the world.” Symposium highlights include:
The Rayko Petrov Honor Lecture for 2015 will be presented by: Professor Boris Podlivaev, Russian State University in Moscow and National Coaching Staff for Women. His lecture will be entitled: Women’s Wrestling-Some Observations from a Coach and Scientist.
Dr. Carole Maître, a gynecologist and sport physician with the French National Institute of Sport, with a talk entitled: Caring for the Female Wrestler: What her Coach Needs to Know
Other events will include demonstrations of Innovative Technologies in the Training of Wrestlers, Training Youth Wrestlers, Wrestling in Iran, and the presentation of the Young Investigator Award.
Registration: Participants can register on site on the morning of Saturday, September 5th, beginning at 8 AM. The registration requires membership in the INWR which will be available at the door for $40 USD.

The INWR is the largest organization in the world is dedicated to facilitating the development of wrestling through international and intercultural understanding and cooperation; and to support wrestling-related research and education. The INWR has grown to over 400 academics, scientists, doctors and wrestling professionals, from over 80 countries who are involved with the sport of wrestling. The INWR has organized scientific meetings at the last 5 world wrestling championships and also publishes the International Journal of Wrestling Science.
