American Jordan Holm, shown at the Dave Schultz Memorial, jumped five spots at 85 kg after winning a gold at the Hungarian Grand Prix.
The new United World Wrestling Greco-Roman World rankings are now available.
There are five American athletes that are ranked among the top 20 Greco-Roman wrestlers in the world at their weight class.
The top ranked American remains 2014 World bronze medalist Andy Bisek (Colorado Springs, Colo./Minnesota Storm) at 75 kg/165 lbs.
Three Americans hold a No. 12 ranking in their weight classes: two-time Olympian Spenser Mango (Colorado Springs, Colo./U.S. Army WCAP) at 59 kg, Joe Rau (Minneapolis, Minn./Minnesota Storm) at 80 kg/176 lbs. and Jordan Holm (Minneapolis, Minn./Minnesota Storm) at 85 kg/187 lbs.
All three were members of the 2014 U.S. World Team, and all three won medals at the Hungarian Grand Prix in early March, one of the toughest and most respected open Greco-Roman tournaments each year. Holm won a gold medal, Mango won a silver medal and Rau won a bronze medal in Hungary.
It was one of the best U.S. performances in many years at the Hungarian Grand Prix. Holm was the first Hungarian GP champion since 2003, when Dremiel Byers was the heavyweight champion. You need to go back to 1999 for the last time that Team USA won three medals at a Hungarian Grand Prix.
Holm jumped five spots in the ranking at his weight from March, when he was at No. 17. Rau jumped two spots in the ranking from last month, when he was No. 14.
Holding down the No. 20 was 2014 U.S. World Team member Bryce Saddoris (Camp Lejeune, N.C./U.S. Marine Corps) at 66 kg/145.5 lbs.
The top-ranked Greco-Roman wrestlers in the world in April were: Hamid Soryan of Iran (59 kg), Davor Stefanek of Serbia (66 kg), Rasul Chunayev of Azerbaijan (71 kg), Kim Hyeon-Woo of Korea (75 kg), Rafik Huseynov of Azerbaijan (80 kg), Melonin Noumonvi of France (85 kg), Artur Aleksanyan of Armenia (98 kg) and Mijian Lopez of Cuba (130 kg).
