FLASH: Titan Mercury WC goes 3-0 and reaches semifinals at Freestyle World Clubs Cup in Iran

JOUYBAR, Iran - The Titan Mercury Wrestling Club, a top club from the United States, went 3-0 in Pool B dual meets and has advanced to the semifinal round at the Freestyle World Clubs Cup, a new event which started in Jouybar, Iran on Thursday, which is Thanksgiving in the United States.
Titan Mercury opened with an 8-0 shutout of the Arabic Army club of Syria, winning all of the bouts by pins or technical falls. Pins were earned by Joe Colon (61 kg), Deron Winn (86 kg) and Tyrell Fortune (125 kg). Tech falls went to Tony Ramos (57 kg), Reece Humphrey (65 kg), Adam Hall (70 kg), Andrew Howe (74 kg) and Wynn Michalak (98 kg).
Bonus points was the difference in Titan Mercury’s 4-4 criteria victory over the Manzadaran Province club of Iran. Three of the four U.S. wins scored bonus points. Tony Ramos (57 kg) and Tyrell Fortune (125 kg) scored pins, and Andrew Howe (74 kg) scored a technical fall. Also winning his match was Adam Hall (70 kg).
In the third round, Titan Mercury won five straight matches in the middle weights to defeat a club team from Azerbaijan, 6-2. Tony Ramos (57 kg) won a close 3-2 match to start it off, then Azerbaijan rebounded with a win at 61 kg. Starting with a win by decision at 65 kg by Reece Humphrey, Titan Mercury ran off five straight wins to put the match away. Included in the run were technical falls by Andrew Howe (74 kg), Deron Winn (80 kg) and Wynn Michalak (98 kg), plus a forfeit win by Adam Hall.
Going 3-0 on the day were Ramos and Howe. Going 2-0 were Hall and Fortune.
The USA advances to the semifinal round, where the winners of the four pool competitions will meet on Friday morning.
By winning its pool, Titan Mercury has guaranteed that it will place in the top four of the 15-team tournament.
