USA Wrestling will send teams to compete in a pair of European events in the next few weeks, wrestling first in Belarus, then competing in Russia.

A group of 12 U.S. Greco-Roman wrestlers will compete in the Oleg Karavaev International in Minsk, Belarus on November 21.

Leading the U.S. delegation are 2012 Olympian Ben Provisor (Colorado Springs, Colo./New York AC) at 85 kg/187 lbs., 2014 U.S. World Team member Bryce Saddoris (Camp LeJeune, N.C./U.S. Marines) at 66 kg/145.5 lbs. and 2010 World Team member Jake Fisher (Minneapolis, Minn./Minnesota Storm) at 75 kg/165 lbs.

The USA will have two top athletes at 130 kg/286 lbs., 2013 U.S. Open champion David Arendt (Camp LeJeune, N.C./U.S. Marines) and 2011 Junior World bronze medalist Toby Erickson (Colorado Springs, Colo./New York AC/USOTS)

The team will be coached by National Greco-Roman Coach Matt Lindland and Assistant USOTS Greco-Roman Coach Aghasi Manukyan.

A total of 10 of the athletes who competed in Belarus will continue on for training and competition in St. Petersburg, Russia. The U.S. athletes will enter the S.A. Lavrikov Greco-Roman Championships, December 6-7.

Included on the trip are Provisor, Saddoris, Fisher, Arendt and Erickson, plus five other top Americans.

The team will be coached in Russia by Manukyan and past Olympic coach Jay Antonelli.

“We have a good group, some young guys and some veterans. I’m excited about this group. The goal is to wrestle with the Europeans as much as we can. We have two training camps during this tour. The tournament in Belarus features dual meets, and they are guaranteed a number of matches. The training camps will also help our guys get better,” said Lindland.
