Draws set for Women’s World Cup as USA has Japan, China and Hungary in tough Pool A

The weigh-in and draw has been held at the Women’s World Cup, the world dual meet championship for women’s freestyle wrestling in Tokyo, Japan.
The United States has drawn into Pool A, which features host Japan, returning World Cup champion China and Hungary. At the 2013 World Championships, Japan was first, the United States was third, China was fourth and Hungary was eighth.
Pool B features Mongolia, Ukraine, Russia and Canada. Mongolia was second at the 2013 World Championships, Ukraine was fifth, Russia was sixth and Canada was seventh.
The United States will wrestle Japan in the first session, Hungary in the second session and China in the third session, all which are held on Saturday.
On Sunday, the finals bouts for 1st place, 3rd place, 5th place and 7th place will be held. Pairings will be based upon the standings in each pool.
The United States will feature 2012 World champions Elena Pirozhkova (63 kg) and Adeline Gray (75 kg), plus 2008 Olympic bronze medalist Randi Miller (69 or 75 kg). Past World medalists on the team are Alyssa Lampe (48 kg) and Helen Maroulis (53 kg).
The last time the United States won the Women’s World Cup was in 2004, when the event was also held in Tokyo.
