Junior National Duals set for June 24-28 in Oklahoma City, with Illinois defending champ in both styles

USA Wrestling’s Junior National Duals will take place Wednesday at the Freede Center at Oklahoma City University in Oklahoma City, Okla., and run June 24-28.


Greco-Roman competition will start Wednesday June 25 and continue through late Thursday night, June 26. Freestyle will start on Friday June 27 and continue through Saturday night June 28.


Illinois is the defending champion in both styles, and is hoping to continue its momentum after winning both tournaments at the Cadet National Duals a week ago in Daytona Beach, Fla.


Illinois won the 2013 title in freestyle, stopping Michigan, 38-34 in the final. Oklahoma secured third, beating California 34-32. Winning fifth place was Iowa over Missouri 35-30. Taking home seventh was Minnesota, stopping Washington 34-33.


Illinois will attempt defend its Junior National Duals Greco-Roman title, after beating Pennsylvania, 37-39 in the final last summer. Taking home third was California, beating Utah 36-32. Winning fifth place was Washington with a commanding win over Minnesota 46-20. Rounding up as seventh was Missouri, which topped Georgia 43-24.
