Five U.S. athletes receive draws for FILA Cadet Worlds in Greco-Roman

SNINA, Slovakia – The first five U.S. Greco-Roman wrestlers have weighed in and received their draws for the first day of competition at the 2014 FILA Cadet World Championships.
Cadet Pan American Championships bronze medalist Taylor Lamont of Utah will lead a talented U.S. squad in Snina, Slovakia on day one of the Greco-Roman competition. Lamont will face fifth place finisher from last year’s FILA Cadet World Championships, Mikko Peltokangas of Finland, in the first round at 58 kg/127.75 lbs.
Lamont finished in 11th place at the 2013 FILA Cadet World Championships. He is the only returning member from last year’s Cadet World Championships squad in Greco-Roman.
Iowa State Champion Drew West will face Aleh Zhuikou of Belarus in the opening round at 50 kg/110 lbs.
West’s fellow Iowa State Champion Ethan Anderson will open competition against Lithuania’s Povilas Danilevicius in Slovakia. Danilevicius finished in eighth place at this year’s Cadet European Championships.
Two Ohio standouts round out the U.S. competitors for day one of Greco-Roman competition.
Delta, Ohio’s Jacob Spiess drew Davit Makoidze of Georgia to begin his tournament at 54 kg/119 lbs. and Domonick Demas of Columbus, Ohio will face Nicolae Bulgar Madalin of Romania at 63 kg/138.75 lbs.
Competition from Snina, Slovakia will begin at 2:00 a.m. Eastern Time tomorrow.
