Tentative foreign rosters for '14 Dave Schultz Memorial
Tentative U.S. entries for '14 Dave Schultz Memorial
The tentative rosters have been submitted for the 2014 Dave Schultz Memorial International Championships, and so far, they boast four Olympic medalists, six World champions and 20 World medalists.
This annual international event, entering its 16th year, will be held in Sports Center I at the U.S. Olympic Training Center in Colorado Springs, Colo., Jan. 30 – Feb. 1. Greco-Roman will compete on Thursday, men’s freestyle on Friday and women’s freestyle on Saturday.
The event is held in memory of the late Dave Schultz, a World and Olympic champion in men’s freestyle wrestling, who was tragically murdered in 1996. Schultz was a legend in international wrestling, popular all over the world and a true ambassador of goodwill through sports.
There are 25 international teams signed up to compete include Argentina, Bulgaria, Canada, Chile, China, Colombia, Costa Rica, Great Britain, Honduras, India, Israel, Ivory Coast, Japan, Kazakhstan, Moldova, Mongolia, Poland, Peru, Puerto Rico, Russia, Sri Lanka, Switzerland, United States, Uruguay and Uzbekistan.
Tentative rosters for the U.S. and tentative international delegations have been compiled, and there are numerous international stars expected to compete.
Olympic medalists include 2004 Olympic silver medalist and 2012 Olympic bronze medalist Guzel Manyurova of Kazakhstan at 75 kg in women’s freestyle, 2012 Olympic bronze medalist Coleman Scott of the United States at 61 kg in men’s freestyle and 2008 Olympic bronze medalist Randi Miller of United States at 69 kg in women’s freestyle.
World Champions slated to wrestle at this year’s tournament are all in the women’s freestyle division, and include 2012 World Champion Elena Pirozhkova of the United States at 69 kg, 2012 World Champion Jessica MacDonald of Canada at 48 kg, 2013 World champion Yanan Sun of China at 48 kg , 2011 World champion Louzhuoma Xi of China at 63 kg, 2012 World champion Lan Zhang of China at 58 kg and 2013 World champion Marianna Sastin of Hungary at 58 kg.
Up to 20 past World medalists are also arriving from around the world. Among other top athletes include numerous World and Olympic Team members and Junior and University World champions and medalists.
Other Olympians from the United States expected to wrestle include two-time Olympian Spenser Mango at 59 kg in Greco-Roman and 2012 Olympian Kelsey Campbell at 58 kg in women’s freestyle.

Tickets are available at the gate. Prices include $20 Adult All-Session Pass; $15 per day for Adults; $10 per session for Adults; $5 per day for High School students (with ID); $5 per day for Seniors (62+); $4 per day for youth 5-14 years old. Coaches are free with five paid wrestlers.
