UPDATE: Kennedy wins gold, Keddy silver and Bradley bronze at Yasar Dogu in Turkey

ISTANBUL, Turkey – Jimmy Kennedy (Ann Arbor, Mich./New York AC/Cliff Keen WC) won a gold medal at 61 kg/134 lbs., one of three U.S. medalists on the final day of the Yasar Dogu International on Sunday.
In the championship finals, Kennedy defeated Nyam-Ochir Enkhsaikhan of Mongolia, 7-2. Kennedy led 1-0 after the first period when his opponent was put on the 30-second shot clock and could not score. In the second period, Kennedy opened up his offense, scoring six more points on two takedowns and two pushouts to lead 7-0. Enkhsaikhan scored a takedown in the closing seconds to make it 7-2.
Kennedy ran off four straight wins to reach the finals.He opened with technical falls over Noriyuki Takasuka of Japan and K. Churchurov of Bulgaria and in the first two rounds. In the quarterfinals, he stopped Egor Ponomarev of Russia, 4-0. His semifinal win was over Murshid Mutalimov of Russia, 5-0. Mutalimov was third in the 2014 Ivan Yarygin Grand Prix.
“Jimmy Kennedy was the outstanding wrestler for the day. He was able to control each match in a way that left the competition scratching their heads. He was able to show his speed, strength, and technique. I have seen all the work Jimmy has put in and it is now showing,” said U.S. coach Andy Hrovat, who also works with Kennedy at the Michigan RTC.
Phil Keddy (Iowa City, Iowa/Titan Mercury WC/Hawkeye WC) won a silver medal at 86 kg/189 lbs. He was defeated in the gold-medal finals by two-time Cadet World champion Abdulrashid Sadulaev of Russia, 0-10 in 2:44.
Keddy also had a strong run in the preliminaries. In the quarterfinals, he stopped Ayan Sucu of Turkey, 6-0. In the semifinals, he jumped to a big early lead and held off a late rally to defeat 2013 Asian Junior champion Ali Reza Karimmachiani of Iran, 7-5.
Winning a bronze medal at 125 kg/275 lbs. was 2008 Junior World champion Dom Bradley (Blue Springs, Mo./Sunkist Kids). Bradley defeated 2014 Ivan Yarygin Grand Prix champion Alan Khugaev of Russia in the bronze-medal match, 3-1. Both athletes were put on the shot clock and unable to score, making the match 1-1 late in the second period. Bradley scored a clutch takedown with 33 seconds left to win, 3-1.
Bradley opened with a technical fall victory over E. Lopez Morell of Puerto Rico, 10-0. In the quarterfinals, he lost to 2012 Olympic bronze medalist Komeil Ghasemi of Iran, 4-1. When Ghasemi reached the finals, Bradley was pulled back into the repechage rounds. He won his first repechage match, a technical fall over Ilya Rusev Enev of Bulgaria, 12-2.
In the other half of the 86 kg bracket from Keddy, Americans Clayton Foster (Laramie, Wyo./Cowboy WC/GRIT Athletics) and Raymond Jordan (Atlanta, Ga./Sunkist Kids) met in the quarterfinals after both won their first two matches. Foster scored a 5-0 win over Jordan. In the semifinals, Foster was defeated by two-time Cadet World champion Abdulrashid Sadulaev of Russia, 2-6, which eliminated Jordan from the repechage. Based upon his results, Jordan finished eighth in the 29-athlete field.
Foster was defeated in his bronze-medal bout by Mahammasjavad Ebrahimizivlaei of Iran, 5-8. The Iranian led 4-1 after the first period, but Foster closed it 4-3 with a takedown early in the second period. Two straight takedowns by Ebrahimizivlaei gave him a lead which Foster could not eliminate.
“Today we had five wrestlers competing in three weight class. We left the competition with a medal in each weight. Our wrestlers all competed well and each have made some gains in the past year,” said Hrovat.
In the two-day event, the USA won five medals. On Saturday, Nick Marable (Columbia, Mo./Sunkist Kids/MWF) won a gold medal and Jordan Burroughs (Lincoln, Neb./Sunkist Kids/Nebraska RTC) won a bronze medal, both at 74 kg/163 lbs.
“The coaching staff couldn't be happier with the way we competed. We had a great training camp with the Turkish national team and now we have momentum going into the World Cup in Los Angeles. Each individual that competed this winter now has exposed all of their strengths and weaknesses. They will be able to make a plan in preparation for the US Open in Las Vegas in April,” said Hrovat.
