COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – The final spot on the 2014 U.S. World Wrestling Team has now been determined.
Jenna Burkert will represent the U.S. at the World Championships, set for Sept. 8-14 in Tashkent, Uzbekistan.
Burkert won the Phase II World Team Trials in women’s freestyle at 60 kg/132 lbs. on July 19 in Fargo, N.D., but was not officially named to the team until today.
U.S. Open champion Jennifer Page had requested and received an extension on the World Team Trials championship series at 60 kg because of an injury.
Page has now waived her right to a special wrestle-off with Burkert. Page will claim the No. 2 spot on the U.S. National Team at 60 kilos.
Burkert (Colorado Springs, Colo./New York AC) qualifies for her first Senior World Team.
