MOSCOW, Russia - The final two U.S. women's freestyle wrestlers and the first U.S. men's freestyle wrestler have weighed in and received their draws at the World Wrestling Championships for competition on Friday at the Olympiysky Sports Complex.
Two-time World champion and nine-time World medalist Kristie Davis (Oklahoma City, Okla./New York AC) will face Alla Cherkosova of Ukraine in the first match at 67 kg/147.5 lbs. Cherkosova was a 2010 World Cup champion and was 10th in the 2008 World Championships.
At 72 kg/158.5 lbs., Stephany Lee (Colorado Springs, Colo./Sunkist Kids) opens with Roxana Iancolovici of Romania, a 2009 Junior World silver medalist.
Lee is competing in her second World Championships, and is a past University World champion.
The first men's competitor, Obe Blanc (Stillwater, Okla./Gator WC) at 55 kg/121 lbs., will battle 2009 World silver medalist Sezer Akgul of Turkey. Blanc is competing in his first World Championships.
"It has been good training for Obe the last few months" said U.S. World Team coach John Smith. "He needs to look forward to putting together several great matches. He has that opportunity. For him to be successful, he can't use this for experience. He needs to look forward to it and execute."
