NICE, France – Maddie Kubicki won the gold medal at 65 kg in women’s freestyle for Team USA at the 52nd annual Henri Deglane Grand Prix of France, taking place at The Halle des Sports Charles-Ehrmann in Nice, France.

Making just her third international senior-level appearance, Kubicki rolled through her two round robin matches, needing just 2:30 of mat time to post her two wins en route to the gold.

To start the day, the 2023 U20 World Team Member pinned Anna Mazgajova of Czechia just 1:17 into the contest. Kubicki then sealed her gold medal at 65 kg against Finland’s Silja Kamppinen, picking up another fall, this time just 1:13 into the match after holding a 6-0 lead.

The gold medal is her third international medal and second at the senior level after earning silver at the 2021 U17 Pan American Championships and bronze at the 2023 Grand Prix of Spain.

Alyssa Mahan stormed out of the gates at 55 kg with back-to-back pins against Italy’s Angela Crapio Casarola and Ivory Coast’s Nogona Bakayoko.

After her bye in the third set of matches in the round robin, Mahan battled 2024 U20 World silver medalist Carla Jaume Soler of Spain. After a back-and-forth affair to start the match, Jaume Soler pulled away late in the contest to earn a 12-4 win to move ahead of Mahan in the round robin standings.

Mahan finished with three wins in the round robin after earning a victory by forfeit in her final match against Finland’s Jutta Ala Ranta, who did not compete on Friday.

In her second international appearance, the native of Wilmington, Del., earned her first career international medal following Friday’s silver medal performance.

Action at the Henri Deglane Grand Prix of France continues tomorrow morning at 10:30 a.m. local time/4:30 a.m. ET with the men’s freestyle tournament.
