NEW YORK – Nine U.S. women, including U20 World champion Everest Leydecker, Final X runner-up Amanda Martinez and U.S. National Team member Alara Boyd, are within striking distance of gold entering the medal rounds at the 2025 Bill Farrell Memorial International.
Americans securing a place in the championship finals were Leydecker at 53 kg, Martinez at 57 kg, Boyd at 62 kg, Aubre Krazer and Michaela Beck at 59 kg, Nina Kemu Makem at 65 kg, Solin Piearcy at 68 kg and Alexandria Alli at 72 kg.
Additionally, three-time age-group World champion Emily Shilson is undefeated in round robin play at 50 kg, needing one more win to finish atop the podium.
Shilson, Leydecker, Kemu Makem and Alli posted notable wins over current U.S. National Team members during the Friday morning prelims. Shilson topped No. 3 Kendra Ryan, 5-4, in round robin round four. Leydecker, who was Final X runner-up at 55 kg, dropped to 53 kg and teched NCWWC champion Sydney Petzinger, 10-0. Kemu Makem took a 14-4 technical fall over Final X runner-up Aine Drury. Alli earned a tough, 8-4, decision over No. 3 Kaylynn Albrecht, who was a Poland Open and Henri Deglane Grand Prix champion this year.
Of the 10 weight classes, eight were contested in traditional straight-line brackets with a double elimination format (53 kg, 55 kg, 57 kg, 59 kg, 62 kg, 65 kg and 72 kg). The remaining two weights had five or fewer entrants, pushing the participants into a round robin bracket (50 kg and 76 kg).
Women’s freestyle medal matches for all weight classes will be held at 6 p.m. (ET) on Friday night.
