There is still time to make plans to attend the second annual USA Wrestling Preseason Folkstyle National Championships.

The event will be held at the University of Northern Iowa's UNI-Dome in Cedar Falls, Iowa on October 31. Organizers expect to build upon the success from last year, when the inaugural event was held in Des Moines.

The event is open to the first 1,200 high school and middle school athletes who register.

Currently the tournament has 361 registered wrestlers, representing 26 different states across the nation. With less than a month to go, this is a very strong early registration. There are already 313 high school athletes registered, and in the newly created middle school division another 48 athletes.

Online registration closes Tuesday, October 27 at midnight. However, if the number of preregistered athletes is less than 1,200, walk-ins will be welcome at weigh-ins Friday, prior to competition.

The Preseason Nationals looks to build on an already strong tradition, with numerous state champions, placewinners, and All-Americans competing against one another. It also provides a great opportunity for young wrestlers to build confidence and reach success, and get involved in the excitement of the upcoming high school and middle school seasons.

"The 2nd Annual Preseason National tournament will showcase some of the best wrestlers in the nation," said Pete Isais, USA Wrestling National Events Director. "This event will definitely provide great competition for those athletes wishing to gain a head-start on the upcoming season."

The newly added middle school division also provides a unique opportunity for younger wrestlers to showcase their talent on a national level.
