University of Alberta Athletics invites applications for the position of Head Coach of the Golden Bears and Pandas Wrestling teams.

Athletics is committed to supporting the best year-round inter-university wrestling program possible and is searching for a Head Coach who is capable of managing a high performance program and has the ability to attract and retain the best wrestlers in Canada. The position is initially an Interim position ending on June 30th, 2009, with possible extension through to April 30th, 2010. Salary is commensurate with education and experience and a comprehensive benefits package is provided.

Reporting to the Director of Athletics, the Head Coach will be responsible for all duties associated with the successful operation of a competitive university wrestling program. Major responsibilities include coaching, recruiting/retention, creation and management of a yearly budget and promotion of positive community and alumni relations.

The Head Coach will support and act in accordance with the strategic direction and initiatives of the Golden Bears and Pandas Athletics Program and the University of Alberta as they relate to fund raising, general promotions, budget management and appropriate administrative responsibilities. In addition the Head Coach will ensure compliance with Canada West Regional Association and Canadian Inter-university Sport rules and regulations. These responsibilities are required in organizing a competitive and successful team while promoting academic success for student athletes.

This position may also include teaching credit courses in the Faculty of Physical Education and Recreation, pending candidate qualifications.
The successful candidate should possess a university degree with NCCP Level III certification or equivalent; as well as at least three years coaching experience, preferably at the University level. In addition, effective communication skills and proven organizational, leadership and management skills are required.
