KHASAJVURT, Russia – The first four U.S. men’s freestyle wrestlers have weighed in and received their draws for the 2016 Intercontinental Cup in the wrestling hotbed of Dagestan. Three of the four competing on Saturday are past NCAA champions.

Three-time NCAA champion Alex Dieringer (Stillwater, Okla./Cowboy WC) will compete at 74 kg/163 lbs., where he opens against Rasul Shapiev of Russia/Dagestan, who was fifth in the 2011 Cadet World Championships. Dieringer, who completed his career at Oklahoma State last season, placed third at the 2016 U.S. Olympic Team Trials.

2016 NCAA champions Nico Megaludis (Murraysville, Pa./Nittany Lion WC), who competed for Penn State, will face Parviz Ibrahimov of Azerbaijan, who was fifth in 2015 UWW Golden Grand Prix. Megaludis was a member of the University World Team in 2013 and won a gold medal at the Guelph Open last year.

2015 NCAA champion Kyven Gadson (Ames, Iowa/Sunkist Kids/Cyclone WC), a graduate of Iowa State, starts his competition at 97 kg/213 lbs. against Magomedsarul Magomedov of Russia/Dagestan, who was third in the 2013 Alexander Medved Prizes in Belarus. Gadson won the 2016 University Nationals and was third at the 2016 U.S. Senior Nationals.

Also competing on Saturday is past Missouri star Alan Waters (Columbia, Mo./Missouri Wrestling Foundation) who opens with Muradbek Abdulkarimov of Russia/Dagestan.

The Intercontinental Cup will award nearly $2,400 in prize money to every champion, $1,600 to all silver medalists and $800 to bronze medalists.

The team is being coached by Buffalo head coach John Stutzman of Buffalo, N.Y. and Oklahoma State Associate Head Coach Eric Guerrero of Stillwater, Okla.
