15 USA Greco-Roman wrestlers advance to day two of Malar Cup in Sweden

VASTERAS, Sweden – A group of 15 Team USA Greco-Roman wrestlers have advanced through the first day of competition and will wrestle on Sunday at the Malar Cup.
The USA entered 23 athletes in the competition, 16 in the Senior division and seven in the Cadet division. Heading into day two, Team USA has nine Seniors still in the hunt and six Cadets still alive.
This tournament is being run by the old vertical pairing system, which is a double elimination system with either one pool or two pools.
Of the 15 Americans still competing, four are unbeaten, including Seniors Austin Morrow (66 kg), Logan Kass (71 kg) and G’Angelo Hancock (98 kg), and Cadet Britton Holmes (69 kg).
This is the second straight weekend USA athletes have been competing in Greco-Roman in Sweden. Last week, at the Klippan Cup in Klippan, Sweden, the USA had three Senior medalists, including champions Jordan Auen (59 kg) and G’Angelo Hancock (98 kg).
The U.S. team is being coached by USOEC head coach Rob Hermann and by Lucas Steldt.
