On Saturday, August 27, Olympic gold-medalist wrestler Helen Maroulis was a special guest of her hometown NFL football team, the Baltimore Ravens.
Maroulis spent time on the field before the game and did a variety of media appearances there. She also met coach John Harbaugh and the players.
Coach Harbaugh asked Helen to speak to the players as part of the pre-game pep talk to the team, before they took the field against Detroit Lions in their preseason game.
It is very rare, or may not have happened before, that a woman athlete or an Olympian gave a pre-game speech to an NFL team. The Ravens have posted the video of that speech.
Baltimore won the pre-season game by a 30-9 margin.
