U.S. Olympic Team Trials brackets released for Saturday competition

IOWA CITY, Iowa – The official brackets for day one of competition at the 2016 U.S. Olympic Team Trials have been released.
Action will begin at 9:00 a.m. (CT) inside Carver-Hawkeye Arena on Saturday with nine weight classes being contested. Among the weight classes wrestling tomorrow are men’s freestyle 65 kg and 125 kg, women’s freestyle 58 kg, 63 kg and 69 kg and Greco-Roman 59 kg, 66 kg, 85 kg and 98 kg.
Four-time U.S. World Team member Brent Metcalf and two-time World bronze medalist Tervel Dlagnev were awarded the No. 1 seeds at 65 kg and 125 kg in the two men’s freestyle weight classes wrestling tomorrow.
Top seeds in tomorrows women’s freestyle competition are three-time U.S. World Team member Alli Ragan at 58 kg, four-time World medalist Elena Pirozhkova at 63 kg and 2015 U.S. World Team Trials runner-up Tamyra Mensah at 69 kg.
On the Greco-Roman side, U.S. Open champion Ildar Hafizov at 59 kg, two-time U.S. World Team member Bryce Saddoris at 66 kg, three-time U.S. World Team member Jordan Holm at 85 kg and 2014 U.S. World Team member Josef Rau at 98 kg claim the No. 1 seeds for tomorrow’s action.
