Robby Smith (Colorado Springs, Colo./New York AC) has been named TheMat.com Wrestler of the Week.
Each week, TheMat.com will select an Athlete of the Week, based upon performance within wrestling for that week. The selection committee will consider any level of wrestling, from youth programs through the Senior level.
Smith went 4-0 and was named Outstanding Wrestler of the Jack Pinto Cup at the U.S. Olympic Training Center on Saturday in Colorado Springs, Colo.
Smith outscored opponents from China, Kazakhstan and India by a combined 23-0 score during the dual-meet event in Greco-Roman wrestling.
Smith, fifth at the 2013 World Championships, is now competing at the new weight class of 130 kg/286 lbs.
