Matt Brown of Penn State named USA Wrestling Athlete of the Week

Matt Brown (West Valley City, Utah/Penn State University) has been named TheMat.com Wrestler of the Week.
Each week, TheMat.com will select an Athlete of the Week, based upon performance within wrestling for that week. The selection committee will consider any level of wrestling, from youth programs through the Senior level.
Brown downed Iowa’s Mike Evans to key No. 1 Penn State’s 24-12 victory over No. 2 Iowa on Saturday night at Carver-Hawkeye Arena in Iowa City.
The third-ranked Brown shot in for a first-period takedown en route to a 4-1 win over the No. 6 Evans in the 174-pound bout. Evans beat Brown in last season’s dual at Iowa.
Brown, a junior, was a 2013 Big Ten champion and NCAA runner-up in helping the Nittany Lions win their third straight national team championship.
