Iowa's Brent Metcalf named TheMat.com Wrestler of the Week for March 4-10

Brent Metcalf (Davison, Mich./University of Iowa) has been named TheMat.com Wrestler of the Week for March 4-10.
Each week, TheMat.com will select an Athlete of the Week, based upon performance within wrestling for that week. The selection committee will consider any level of wrestling, from youth programs through the Senior level. The announcement will be made each week on Wednesday.
Metcalf was named Outstanding Wrestler of the Big Ten Championships after leading the No. 1 Iowa Hawkeyes to the team title on March 9 in Minneapolis.
Metcalf also was named Big Ten Wrestler of the Year after beating 2006 NCAA champion and two-time Big Ten champion Dustin Schlatter of Minnesota 5-3 in the 149-pound finals. Metcalf scored the most team points (24) of any competitor in the 110-man field at the Big Ten tournament.
The top-ranked Metcalf, a sophomore, is 30-1 this season and has won his last 27 matches.
