Kenny Courts (Harrisburg, Pa./Central Dauphin High School) has been named TheMat.com Wrestler of the Week for Dec. 11-17.
Each week, TheMat.com will select an Athlete of the Week, based upon performance within wrestling for that week. The selection committee will consider any level of wrestling, from youth programs through the Senior level. The announcement will be made each week on Wednesday.
Courts, a freshman 135-pounder, turned in a dominating performance in winning the Outstanding Wrestling award at the Beast of the East tournament on Dec. 16 in Newark, Delaware.
Courts scored bonus points in all six of his wins, capturing three matches by technical fall and two by major decision before scoring a first-period pin over New Jersey state placewinner Joe Lospinoso of David Brearley High School in the finals.
Courts led Central Dauphin to a second-place finish in the team race behind Blair Academy.
