Zac Hall (Ithaca, Mich.) has been named TheMat.com Wrestler of the Week for July 3-July 9
Each week, TheMat.com will select an Athlete of the Week, based upon performance within wrestling for that week. The selection committee will consider any level of wrestling, from youth programs through the Senior level. The announcement will be made each week on Wednesday.
Hall claimed a double title at the ASICS Kids National Freestyle and Greco-Roman Championships in Green Bay, Wis., July 6-7, winning the Novice 80-pound division in both Greco-Roman and freestyle.
This is the third consecutive year that Hall has won a double-title at the ASICS Kids National Championships. In 2006, he was a double champion at the Novice 75-pound class. In 2005, he was a double champion in the Midget 70-pound weight class.
At the ASICS Kids Greco-Roman Nationals, Hall won five straight matches to claim the gold medal. He defeated Tommy Forte of Indiana in the finals, 2-4, 1-1, 3-2.
In freestyle, Hall also had five straight wins on the way to the title. In the championship match, Hall stopped Anthony Gonzalez of Michigan by technical fall, 7-0, 8-0.
