Wartburg is No. 1 in NWCA Div. III Coaches Poll tournament rankings, with Augsburg No. 1 in dual meet poll

Manheim, PA - On Wednesday the National Wrestling Coaches Association (NWCA) released their fourth set of regular season Division III Men's Coaches Tournament and Dual Polls, as well as national and regional individual rankings.


There has been quite the shake-up in both the team and tournament polls following the USMC/NWCA National Dual Meet Championship. In the tournament poll #1 Wartburg (84.5 pts) and #2 Johnson & Wales (53 pts) stay in the top two positions with #3 UW-La Crosse (41 pts) jumping up from sixth. #4 Baldwin Wallace (42.5 pts) trades spots with #5 Stevens Institute (34 pts) to round out the top 5.


The dual poll has recently crowned National Dual Champions Augsburg in the top spot with a perfect 6-0 record. Johnson and Wales (18-1) moves up to 2nd place after their national runner-up finish in Louisville to now #1 Augsburg. #3 Wartburg (8-1), #4 UW-La Crosse (11-2), and #5 Baldwin Wallace (12-2) complete the top 5.

The individual rankings saw a change to a single top spot with Jarritt Shinhoster (UW-Whitewater) reclaiming his #1 ranking at 184.. Warburg (141 & 157) and Johnson & Wales (125 & 174) lead the nation with two top-ranked wrestlers. Other programs with a #1 ranked wrestler are North Central, Baldwin Wallace, Rhode Island, UW-Whitewater, Coast Guard, and Olivet.
