U.S. team in all three disciplines to compete at Dan Kolov/Nikola Petrov in Sofia, Bulgaria, March 2-5

A team of Senior-level wrestlers in all three international disciplines will compete in the Dan Kolov/Nikola Petrov International in Sofia, Bulgaria, March 2-5.


A group of 13 men’s freestyle wrestlers will compete, led by a pair of World and Olympic medalists who are currently No. 1 on the Senior National Team, Thomas Gilman at 61 kg and Kyle Snyder at 97 kg. Gilman is a 2021 World champion and 2020 Olympic bronze medalist. Snyder was a 2016 Olympic champion and a three-time World champion.


Another current Senior National Team member, Joey McKenna at 65 kg, will be competing. Ty Walz, a previous National Team member, will wrestle at 125 kg.


A group of seven women’s freestyle wrestlers will also enter, led by current Senior National Team members Alex Hedrick at 55 kg, Michaela Beck at 59 kg, Jennifer Page at 62 kg, Solin Piearcy at 68 kg and Marilyn Garcia at 72 kg.


A group of nine Greco-Roman wrestlers from the Greco-Roman program at the Northern Michigan University National Training Site will also compete. Among the participants is previous Senior National Team member 67kg: David Stepanian at 67 kg.


There will be competition in all three disciplines each day. There are three groups of athletes who will each compete in a two-day tournament. (See schedule below for weight classes on each day). Sofia is seven hours ahead of U.S. Eastern time.
