FORT WORTH, Texas – The best-of-three championship finals have been set in all weight classes at the USMC Women’s U20 National Championships on Friday afternoon.

The winners of the championship series on Saturday qualify to compete for Team USA at the U20 World Championships in Sofia, Bulgaria, August 15-21.

Two athletes who won U.S. Senior National titles in Las Vegas, Nev. last weekend have now advanced to the finals of the U20 Nationals, Adriana Dorado Marin of Army WCAP at 55 kg and Nanea Estrella of the Titan Mercury WC at 59 kg.

Dorado Marin scored an 11-0 technical fall over Carissa Qureshi of California in the semifinals. She will face Amani Jones of the Cardinal WC, who was fifth in the NCWWC Nationals for North Central College this year.

Estrella powered past No. 1 ranked high school star Jaclyn Dehney of the Massachusetts Wrestling Association in a 14-4 technical fall. Estrella will face Colorado high school star Savannah Cosme of the Sunkist Kids in the championship finals. Estrella was second in the 2021 NAIA Championships for Menlo College and has transferred to the University of Iowa.

Two members of the 2021 U.S. U20 World Team have been able to advance to championship finals, Claire Dicugno of the Colorado Mesa WC at 57 kg and Amit Elor of the Titan Mercury WC/NYCRTC at 72 kg.

Dicugno fell behind California high school star Jennifer Soto of the Daniel Cormier WC, but scored clutch points in the second period to win 6-2. Dicugno will battle No. 1 ranked high school star Sofia Macaluso of New York in the finals. Dicugno, who was 12th at the 2021 U20 Worlds, was sixth in the 2022 NCWWC Nationals for Colorado Mesa.

Elor, a 2021 Cadet World champion and 2021 Junior World champion, beat Alicia Pieper of Michigan in a 10-0 semifinal technical fall. She will battle New York star Latifah McBryde of the Bulls WC in the finals series.

There will be a high-interest final at 50 kg between Sage Mortimer of the Titan Mercury WC/Team Tornado WC and Audrey Jimenez of the Sunkist Kids. Mortimer, who third at the 2022 NCWWC Nationals for King, defeated No. 1 ranked 100-pound California high school star Briana Gonzales of Somar WC, 13-2 in the semifinals. Jimenez, currently ranked No. 1 in high school at 106 pounds, beat King All-American Samara Chavez of Team Tornado WC, 13-8.

Three members of the Army WCAP team reached finals series: Adriana Dorado Marin, her sister Estrella Dorado Marin at 53 kg and Tristan Kelly at 76 kg.

Estrella Dorado Marin will battle California high school star Katie Gomez, who was a 2021 Cadet World Champion. Kelly has drawn Illinois high school star Rose Cassioppi of the Hononegah WC.

California native Adaugo Nwachukwu, an NAIA National champion for Iowa Wesleyan who competes for the Swamp Monsters WC, will compete in the 62 kg finals, against 2019 Cadet World silver medalist and New Hampshire high school star Skylar Hattendorf.

The finals at 65 kg will feature Nevada’s high school No. 1 ranked Reese Larramendy of Wyoming Seminary WC against Utah high school standout Elleni Johnson of Legends of Gold Las Vegas.

The 68 kg finals will feature Oregon high school star Destiny Rodriguez of the All-Phase WC against California native Tiera Jimerson of the Cardinal WC, who was fifth in the 2022 NCWWC Nationals for North Central College.

The best-of-three championship series at the U23 Nationals will begin at 10:00 a.m. CT, and will be broadcast live on FloWrestling.
