15 age-level World Team members and four Final X finalists to compete at Grand Prix of Spain, July 8-10

 The U.S. is sending a large delegation in women’s freestyle to the Grand Prix of Spain in Madrid on July 8-10. Among the 24 wrestlers who will compete are 15 age-level 2022 World Team members, four Final X finalists and seven No.1 ranked girls in the high school rankings by USA Wrestling, FloWrestling and the National Wrestling Hall of Fame of Museum.


2022 U17 and U20 World Team member from Arizona, Audrey Jimenez, will represent Team USA at 50 kg. Jimenez took bronze at the 2021 Cadet World Championships. She is ranked No.1 at 106 pounds and fourth in the P4P high school rankings. Other top ranked wrestlers in the mix include Katie Gomez of California who is a 2021 Cadet World champion and No.1 at 117 pounds. Gomez will represent Team USA at 53 kg.
2018 U15 Pan American Champion and 2022 U20 World Team member Destiny Rodriguez who is No.1 at 152 pounds is also headed to Madrid. She is joined by Sofia Macaluso of New York who is No.1 at 122 pounds, a 2022 U20 World Team member and 2019 Cadet Pan American champion. Nyla Valencia of California will compete at 50 kg. Valencia is a part of the historic 2022 Iowa Women’s Wrestling recruiting class and is ranked No.1 at 112 pounds.
2022 U20 World Team members Savannah Cosme of Colorado and Reese Larrramendy of Nevada round out the Nos.1 represented in Spain. Cosme is No.1 at 132 pounds and was a 2021 Cadet World Team member. Larramendy is committed to Iowa.
Senior National Team members Felicity Taylor, Lexie Basham and Sienna Ramirez highlight the competition. Taylor is a 2022 U23 World Team member and will wrestle for Iowa after transferring from McKendree. Basham and Ramirez are also U23 World Team members. Fresh off a gold medal at the Matteo Pellicone ranking event in Rome, Italy, Yelena Makoyed is another athlete to watch in Spain. Makoyed is a two-time NCWWC college national champion for North Central College.
At 55 kg, Lauren Mason, who won true-third at Final X New York to make the Senior Women’s National Team, will represent Team USA along with Erin Golston a 2019 Pan Am runner-up and two-time junior World bronze medalist. 


Several other top athletes round out the competition, including 2021 Junior and U23 World Champion Emily Shilson, 2018 Cadet World Bronze medalist Tiare Ikei, 2019 Junior Pan American champion and 2022 U23 World Team member Alisha Howk, U20 World Team member Adriana Dorado-Marin, 2018 Cadet Pan American silver medalist Tristan Kelly, 2022 U20 World Team member Amanda Martinez and 2019 Junior Pan Am runner-up Alexandra Liles.

Nichole Moore of Baker University, Chloe Ogden a two-time Florida state champ from the Tar Heel Wrestling Club and 2022 U23 National champion Ana Luciano round out the lineup for Team USA in Spain.

Each discipline will be completed in one day. Women’s freestyle matches will start on Saturday, July 9 at 10 a.m. local time, six hours ahead of the U.S. Eastern time zone. Medal matches will begin at 4 p.m.
