Youth wrestlers can compete in a Takedown Tournament on February 12 at Globe Life Field in Arlington, Texas, the home of the MLB Texas Rangers, then get admission to the Bout at the Ballpark event featuring Oklahoma State vs. Iowa, USA vs. Iran in men’s freestyle and USA vs. Mongolia in women’s freestyle. Add in a commemorative t-shirt. All of this for just $30.


The Bout at the Ballpark Youth Takedown Tournament will be held from 12:00 noon – 3:00 p.m. at Globe Life Field. The competition is for TOTS – D4, with current USA Wrestling membership. This opportunity is limited to the first 300 entries, and there has been great response already. Registration ends January 31 at 11:59 CST, so register now to secure your place.


All wrestlers need to be accompanied by an adult for the Bout at the Ballpark presented by Kubota Takedown Tournament. All adults must purchase an adult ticket. When registering wrestlers for the tournament, please purchase the “Wrestler” ticket.

At the conclusion of the Youth Takedown Tournament, John Smith, a two-time Olympic champion, four-time World champion and head coach of the Oklahoma State wrestling team, will speak to the young wrestlers.


The Bout at the Ballpark presented by Kubota will feature an NCAA Div. I dual meet between the two most successful programs in history, Oklahoma State University and the University of Iowa. Right alongside will be a USA vs. Iran men’s freestyle dual meet, a USA vs. Mongolia women’s freestyle dual meet, and a featured international Greco-Roman bout. This amazing action will take place simultaneously on two different mats beginning at 6:30 p.m. on February 12. This will mark the first time a senior-level international meet and an NCAA meet will operate in this format.

Additional Information on the Bout at the Ballpark Youth Takedown Tournament

• All skill levels welcome

• Park in LOT B ($35 per day, must pay again IF you leave between sessions) You can not pre-purchase this parking. Pay

on site.

• Entrance at the TXU North Entry

• Doors open at 11:00am

• The wrestlers are weighed in and their age & weight are written on their shoulder.

• There will be a skin check and nail check, so please make sure nails are cut before arrival.

• Singlets are preferred but not required

• Headgear is preferred but not required

• They will be able to warm-up on the mats until the session starts.

• There will be a very short, guided warm-up then line them up from lightest to heaviest.

• We have 4 mats (16 sections) running at the same time. Each section has a ref with a whistle & timer.

• We will send them out to the mat with a wrestler close their weight. They may or may not wrestle the same person twice.

• Boys and girls will wrestle each other. There are no Girl, Rookie, Novice, Open separation.

• They wrestle for two-minutes each time. If they are taken down into a pin, we quickly bring them back up to neutral to start again until the two-minutes are complete.

• When the two minutes is over, they go back to their spot in line for a quick rest then we put them back out with another opponent.

• This goes on for 2.5 hours, there is no elimination, they should get about 8+/- matches.

• We encourage them to try something they have learned at practice and for them to actively watch the other matches.

• There will be no coaches in their corner. We will allow current USAW coaches on the field after they have checked in with the credential table. Coaches must a purchase ticket

• The refs are Texas Wesleyan University wrestlers who will encourage the wrestlers and keep it fun.

• Parents, grandparents, guests, and non-wrestling youth will be asked to sit in the designated area.

• There will be plenty of volunteers to ensure your child is taken care of.

• All volunteers are current USA Wrestling Athletes or Coaches

• Water will be provided to the wrestlers. No outside food is allowed. Concession stand will be open

• There are no medals

• When wrestling concludes we will run a quick cool down and walk over to the North Concourse for Oklahoma State Coach John Smith to speak to the wrestlers.

• You can leave in between sessions as your ticket will get you back into the ballpark for the evening event.

• Relatives and friends can purchase spectator tickets. Additional spectator tickets may be purchased AFTER the registration deadline through this link. Make sure you get your wrestlers signed up today.

• There will be about a 2-hour break in between events. There are a ton of amazing places to eat that are walking distance from the Ballpark.
