AUSTIN, Texas --- No. 3 Michigan and No. 6 Arizona State wrestled four matches on Monday night in a FloWrestling event that was originally scheduled to be a complete dual meet. On Monday afternoon, it was announced that the event would be modified due to COVID-19 protocols.

Hours before the dual meet, Arizona State officially released that there were COVID-19 developments within the Sun Devil Wrestling program that adjusted the dual meet. The two teams agreed to wrestle four matches in place of a traditional dual.

At 125 pounds, No. 4 Brandon Courtney defeated Jack Medley in a 5-4 bout. Medley forced a point on stalling late to bring the match to within a point, but a strong start from Courtney proved to be the difference-maker in the match.

Arizona State picked up another win at 133 pounds with a dominant performance from No. 6 Michael McGee. Against No. 9 Dylan Ragusin, the Sun Devil scored early and often, scoring near fall points in the second period and compiling 4:56 of riding time throughout. McGee won with a 10-0 major decision.

No. 4 Stevan Micic won a tight 8-6 decision against Arizona State’s Julian Chlebove at 141 pounds. Chlebove put up a strong fight and stormed back to get the match within two points late, but Micic created action as time winded down and held on for the decision.

This was Micic’s season debut for the Wolverines.

2020 Tokyo Olympic bronze medalist and four-time NCAA All-American Myles Amine defeated Arizona State’s Josh Nummer, 17-2, to finish up the night’s action. The tech fall win was wrapped up by a second-period takedown and four near fall points to end the evening.

Next up for the Sun Devils is a dual meet against No. 18 Iowa State. The two will wrestle in Tempe on Sunday, January 9 at 7:00 p.m. mountain time.

Michigan will hit the mat next on Friday, January 14 as it kicks off Big Ten competition. The Wolverines will travel to Columbus to wrestle Ohio State at 7:00 p.m. central time.
