SOUTH POINT ARENA, Nev.– The championship matches have been set after a busy day of wrestling for the U15 Freestyle division. The division kicked off their tournaments this morning at 10 am PT and ran all the way through the semifinals this evening.

Athletes from all over the country traveled to Las Vegas in hopes of qualifying for the U15 Pan-Am team. At the U15 age division, the American representatives will be based on the best combined results between both Greco-Roman and freestyle; the selection process can be found here.

In a heavily competitive field, only two returning finalists made the finals this year. Both competitors were runners-up a year ago and will hope to avenge their 2021 losses.

Grey Burnette (OH) returns to the finals this year up one weight class at 41 kg. He went 4-0 today with two technical falls followed by two narrow two point decisions in the quarterfinals and semifinals. He will face Henry Aslikyan (International Sport Union) in the championship bout. Aslikyan has had three straight technical falls enroute to his finals appearance.

Another returning finalist is Michael Romero (Sunkist Kids/Monster Garage) at 48 kg. Romero had three technical falls to get into the semifinals, and then had an intense, high scoring 14-12 decision over Titan Friederichs of No Nonsense Wrestling to make the finals. His opponent, Tyler Dekraker (Integrity WC) has only allowed two points in the tournament leading up to their championship bout tomorrow.

The U15 Nationals will return tomorrow morning at 10 a.m. with consolations and medal matches excluding the finals. Finals will be held at 4 p.m. in the South Point Arena. The tournament can be followed online at FloArena
