Michael Peters (Quincy, Ill.) finished with a 1-1 record at 70 kg in Pool B on Friday at the Katerini Beach World Series event in Katerini-Pierria, Greece.

He opened up with a 3-1 loss to Stefan Ionut Coman of Romania. Coman had defeated Peters, 3-0 last week at the Beach World Series event in Rome, Italy.

In his second match, Peters secured a 3-1 win over Nikolaos Daskolidis of Greece.

There are four wrestlers in Pool B, so Peters will face Lazaros Karathanasis of Greece in his final Pool B bout on Saturday morning.

If Peters wins that match, it is likely he will advance to the semifinal round, with a chance to still win the event or claim a medal.

A wrestler at Marysville University, Peters placed fifth at the 2017 Beach World Championships, and has won the U.S. Beach Nationals in the past. Peters was third at the 2019 Zagreb Beach World Series Final in Croatia, and placed third in the 2019 Beach World Series final standings.

This event is broadcast live on Flowrestling.
