Media reports indicate Gable Steveson signs NIL deal with WWE and will return to Minnesota for college wrestling

by Various sources

It has been widely reported today that Olympic gold medalist Gable Steveson has signed a multi-year deal with the WWE, which will be an NIL deal that allows him to return to compete at the University of Minnesota.

Steveson won the 2021 NCAA title at heavyweight for Minnesota, and the gold medal at 125 kg in men's freestyle at the Olympic Games in Tokyo, Japan. He still has college wrestling eligibility remaining.

While this was reported in some outlets prior to today, Steveson is quoted for the first time in any media reports about the deal with the WWE.

Steveson was eligible to represent the USA at the upcoming 2021 Senior World Championships in Oslo, Norway, but turned down the opportunity. The wrestler who will wrestle in Oslo at his weight class will be determined this weekend at the Senior World Team Trials in Lincoln, Neb.
