U.S. Greco-Roman action wraps up at U23 Worlds, Greco-Roman group two finals set

BELGRADE, Serbia – The U.S. Greco-Roman competition wrapped up at the 2021 U23 World Championships on Wednesday, as three Team USA members wrestled in Wednesday morning’s repechage round.
At 72 kg, Nate Moore, who wrestles at Northern Colorado, dropped an 11-1 match to Nate Persson of Sweden in his repechage match. Moore scored a point from bottom in par terre in the second period, but Persson used a two-point throw late in the first period to win and advance.
Nicholas Boykin, wrestling collegiately at Ohio State, lost his 97 kg repechage bout to Ondrej Dudak of the Czech Republic. Boykin trailed 4-0 early and managed to turn Dudak after a passivity call to cut the lead to just one point, but Dudak’s late standing defense was enough to wrap up the win.
At 60 kg, Dylan Gregerson of Utah Valley dropped his match to Uzbekistan’s Mukhammadkodir Yusupov, who won via fall. Yusupov used an arm throw to put Gregserson to his back and finish a victory.
Yesterday for the U.S., Taylor Lamont, also of Utah Valley, finished in fifth place at 55 kg.
Tonight’s Greco-Roman Group Two medal match session is set for 6:00 p.m. local time, which is five hours ahead of U.S. eastern time. All matches can be streamed live on FloWrestling.
