Budapest, Hungary – The women’s freestyle portion of the 2021 Cadet World Championships kicks off tomorrow with 43 kg, 49 kg, 57 kg, 65 kg and 73 kg all slated to wrestle through the semifinals. All ten weight classes received their draws this afternoon.

Due to the lack of tournaments over the past 18 months, including the cancellation of the 2020 Cadet World Championships, numerous participants lack results in United World Wrestling’s database.

At 40 kg, Erica Pastoriza was drawn into the quarterfinals, where she’ll open her tournament with Kazakhstan’s Aizhan Muratbay.

Angie Dill, a 2019 U15 Pan Am champion, will see Poland’s Julia Dolna, a 2021 U15 European bronze medalist in her first-round bout at 43 kg.

Ava Ward’s first match at 46 kg will come against 2018 U15 Balkans runner-up Yana Dimitrova of Bulgaria.

2019 U15 Pan Am champion Audrey Jimenez represents the U.S. at 49 kg. She was unfortunately one of two competitors drawn into a pigtail, the other being her opponent, India’s Neha Chougale.

At 53 kg, Katie Gomez, a 2019 U15 Pan Am champion, will square off with Hungary’s Gerda Terek, who finished 15th at the 2019 U15 European Championships

2019 U15 Pan Am silver medalist Savannah Cosme begins her competition at 57 kg with Turkey’s Selvi Ilyasoglu, a 2021 Junior European fifth-place finisher.

2019 U15 World Combat Games champion and 2018 U15 Pan Am champion Korina Blades was drawn into a pigtail with Austria’s Emilia Hartmann at 61 kg.

Grace Stem, the U.S. representative at 65 kg, will see 2021 Cadet European Championships 10th-place finisher Duygu Gen of Turkey to start her tournament.

Amit Elor is one of two previous Cadet World Team members on the squad this year. Elor is a 2019 Cadet World bronze medalist. She will face 2021 European Championships 7th-place finisher Barbara Sere of Romania in the 69 kg quarterfinals.

Lillian Freitas is the other previous Cadet World Team member on the team, finishing ninth in 2019. Freitas, who is competing at 73 kg, is a 2021 Junior Pan Am champion and a 2018 U15 Pan Am champion. She will wrestle Poland’s Patrycja Cuber, a 2019 Cadet European silver medalist, in the opening round.

Action begins tomorrow at 11:30 a.m. local time which is 6 hours of Eastern Standard Time (5:30 a.m.) and can be streamed live on FloWrestling.
