This tournament is named in memory of long time IKWF South Sectional Director Jon Davis (1942-2007). His tenure went from 1977 until 2007. Jon also started the Edwardsville WC in 1970 where he mentored over 100 youth wrestling coaches in what it takes to start and run a successful wrestling club. He was a husband, father, coach, teacher, and administrator. Jon's commitment to the IKWF and kids wrestling in general is the gold standard of excellence.

The IKWF has partnered with the Wisconsin Wrestling Federation (WWF) on hosting this event in Wisconsin Dells, as hosting the event in Illinois was not feasible due to COVID-19 restrictions. This will be the first event hosted by the IKWF during the 2020-21 membership season.
