Angelina Cassioppi selected as USA Wrestling Athlete of the Week

Angelina Cassioppi (Roscoe, Ill.) has been selected as USA Wrestling Athlete of the Week on Nov. 1, 2022.
Over the weekend, Cassioppi won her second-straight title at the Brian Keck Memorial Preseason Nationals in Des Moines, Iowa. Last year, she won the crown at 100 pounds, but this season, she moved up to 112 pounds.
The Illinois native dominated the field with six wins, including two pins and a technical fall. In the finals, Cassioppi, ranked No. 6 in the nation, cruised past 112-pound defending champion and No. 14 Angelina Vargas of Missouri, 10-3.
Throughout the tournament, Cassioppi surrendered just five points to her competition.
Each week USA Wrestling will select an Athlete of the Week based upon performance within wrestling for that week. The selection committee will consider any level of wrestling from youth programs through the senior level.
