Bartkowiak and Turner Repeat as Junior Girls Champions at 2026 Folkstyle Nationals

WEST DES MOINES, Iowa – Aubrey Bartkowiak and Morgan Turner capped off action in the Junior Girls division, repeating as national champions at the 2026 USA Wrestling 16U & Junior Folkstyle Nationals at The MidAmerican Energy Company RecPlex.

Bartkowiak pinned her way to back-to-back national titles after scoring a pin 44 seconds into her championship bout. In her three matches in the 235-pound weight class, Bartkowiak pinned each opponent and notched just over four minutes of mat time.

In the final at 115 pounds, two-time U17 World champion Turner posted her fourth technical fall of the tournament in a 17-2 affair. Turner outscored her opponents 84-15 over her five bouts this weekend.

2025 16U champion Kirra Mitchell took the crown at 110 pounds after a 56-second pin in the championship match. Mitchell finished the tournament with three wins by fall.

Joining Bartkowiak and Mitchell with pins to secure gold were Lania Selig (95 pounds), Taylor Brown (100 pounds), Naima Ghaffar (135 pounds) and Julia Araujo (155 pounds).

Araujo pinned her way to gold with falls in against each of her five opponents. Her five pins finished tied for the most in the Junior Girls Division with Madison Sherman and Laura Almanza.

Peggy Susan Dean and U17 World champion Kaura Coles each won their first Junior Folkstyle Nationals titles with technical falls in their championship bouts. Dean shutout her opponent at 105 pounds to the tune of 15-0 as the second period ended. At 120 pounds, Coles put up 21 points to notch a 21-4 victory.

Rounding out the Junior Girls Nationals champions were Ellie Westerman at 125 pounds, Kylee Kurszewski at 130 pounds, Jordyn Parker at 140 pounds, Aleksandra Bastaic at 145 pounds, Alexis Penley at 170 pounds, Kanata Richardson at 190 pounds and Sandra Takara at 207 pounds.

The 2026 USA Wrestling 16U and Junior Folkstyle Nationals is the first leg of the coveted USA Wrestling Triple Crown Award. Junior Girls champions from West Des Moines must win the Freestyle Nationals, and either the Women’s Nationals or National High School Recruiting Showcase, to become Triple Crown Award winners in 2026.
