Daton Fix (Sand Springs, Okla./Oklahoma State/Cowboy WC/Titan Mercury WC) has been selected as USA Wrestling Athlete of the Week on Feb. 14, 2022.

Over the weekend, Fix made history as the first U.S. wrestler to represent his country and his university in competition in the same day, wrestling at Bout of the Ballpark on Saturday at MLB Texas Rangers’ Globe Life Field in Arlington, Texas. The event was the first of its kind as it paired international dual competition with an NCAA Division I dual.

Representing Team USA, Fix took on an opponent from an international all-star team, and later in the evening, representing Oklahoma State, Fix faced an opponent from the University of Iowa.

In his first bout, Fix, a 2021 Senior World silver medalist, defeated Guesseppe Rea from Ecuador, 10-0, in just 1:41. About two hours later, the Cowboy, who is the No.2-ranked NCAA wrestler in the country, took down No. 3 Austin DeSanto of the Hawkeyes with two crucial takedowns for a 5-3 decision.

In addition to his 2021 World medal, Fix is a two-time NCAA runner-up.

Each week USA Wrestling will select an Athlete of the Week based upon performance within wrestling for that week. The selection committee will consider any level of wrestling from youth programs through the senior level.

To nominate a wrestler for this honor please send the athlete's name, wrestling program, weekly accomplishments and career accolades to USA Wrestling Manager of Communications and Social Media Taylor Miller-Gregorio at tmiller@usawrestling.org.
