Lindquist Advances to 16U Boys Finals; Keeps Hopes for Repeat and Weekend Double Alive

WEST DES MOINES, Iowa – Max Lindquist notched a 1-0 decision in the semifinals of the 100-pound weight class to move into the finals of the 16U Boys division at the 2026 USA Wrestling 16U & Junior Folkstyle Nationals. With the win, Lindquist keeps his run for two national titles this weekend and a second-straight 16U title alive.

Lindquist first won a national title in the Junior division in the morning before moving into 16U action at The MidAmerican Energy Company RecPlex. In his two matches in 16U, Lindquist recorded a 21-second pin in the quarterfinals before his 1-0 win to advance to the championship. In the finals, Lindquist is set to battle Ty Martin.

Colton Wiseman (88 pounds), Harrison Murdock (165 pounds), Traycen Wegele (190 pounds) and Rodney Sabin (215 pounds) all pinned in the semifinals to secure their spot in championship matches.

Wiseman takes on Isaac Hierro in the championship bout at 88 pounds. Hierro heads into the finals after a pair of 15-0 technical falls.

At 165 pounds, Murdock faces Blu Stephens for the championship. Payton Kimmerle joins Wegele in the final at 190 pounds. The 215-pound final features Sabin battling Leland Havens.

The lone round robin tournament in the 16U boys division is the 285-pound weight class. Sawyer Schendel leads the standings with a record of 3-0 after collecting a 7-2 decision in round four against John Montgomery, who is now 2-1 in the bracket. In the fifth round, Schendel takes on Sidi Kante (2-1) and Montgomery faces Owen Miller (1-2).
