Graber, VonGonten repeat in 9-12 Grade Girls division at 2025 Brian Keck Memorial Preseason Nationals

DES MOINES, Iowa – The 9-12 Grade Girls division of the 2025 Brian Keck Memorial Preseason Nationals featured 14 individual national champions from 12 different clubs.
Among them were Peggy Dean at 100 pounds and Renee Hudson at 105 pounds, teammates from Betterman Elite Wrestling who both earned pins in the finals. Also winning by pin in the finals were Angelina Gochis at 120 pounds, Leolyn Karnowski at 155 pounds, Blake Baker at 190 pounds and Isabella Lorenzana at 235 pounds.
Lorenzana, and her Surfside X teammate Lilyana Balderas, picked up a pair of titles for the California-based club. Balderas appeared in the 130-pound bout, winning by 13-0 major decision against Madison Black. In the last bout of the finals, Lorenzana won by fall in 5:57 over Haley Armstrong.
Repeat champions from the 2024 Preseason Nationals included Caley Graber at 125 pounds and Landri VonGonten at 140 pounds. Both Graber and VonGonten won by double digits, Graber by 18-1 by technical fall and VonGonten 12-0 on a major decision.
170-pound champion Anastasia Simon defeated Laynie Vaughan 18-1 by way of a technical fall in 2:46. Simon’s sister and Iowa women’s wrestling captain, Naomi, was by her side to coach her the entire way.
Rounding out the list of champions were Mabel Rogers (110), Isabel Kaplan (115), Naima Ghaffar (135) and Hayden Bratland (145).
