Macey Kilty hand raise following win at Muhamet Malo Ranking Series

TIRANA, Albania – Two-time World medalist Macey Kilty shutout her opponents to advance to the gold medal round at the Muhamet Malo Ranking Series. Team USA will also have four members competing for bronze at Tirana’s Feti Borova Olympic Park on Friday.

Kilty posted back-to-back 10-0 technical falls to start the day against age-group World medalist Amina Capezan of Romania and World bronze medalist Ilona Prokopevniuk of Ukraine.

Facing 2024 Olympian Johanna Lindborg in the semifinals, Kilty was a point shy of another technical fall and grabbed the 9-0 decision.

In the gold medal bout at 62 kg, Kilty takes on 2021 U20 World champion Anastasiia Sidelnikova of UWW.

2025 World Team member Adaugo Nwachukwu joined Kilty at 62 kg and nearly made it an all-Team USA final as she moved into the semifinals of the bracket. Nwachukwu started the day with a 14-7 victory over 2024 U23 World silver medalist Anjli of India. In the quarterfinals, she edged out 2021 World champion and 2024 Olympian Bilyana Dudova from Bulgaria. Going up against Sidelnikova in the semifinals, the match came down to the wire, where Nwachukwu suffered a 4-3 setback.

For bronze, Nwachukwu faces three-time age-group World champion Savita of India.

The trio of Abigail Nette, Emma Bruntil and Solin Piearcy also earned spots in bronze medal matches.

2022 World Team member Nette started the day at 59 kg with a 4-1 win over age-group World medalist Erika Bognar of Hungary. In the semifinals, World bronze medalist Othelie Hoeie edged Nette in a 2-0 decision. Nette takes on Türkiye’s Dilan Tan for bronze.

Bruntil, who competed at the 2023 World Championships, lost a narrow 4-2 match to two-time Olympian Kriszta Incze of Romania to move into the bronze medal match. Bruntil’s bronze medal bout comes against Kazakhstan’s Aizhan Suiduova.

Piearcy battled fellow countrywoman Destiny Lyng in the repechage at 68 kg after the pair lost to two-time Olympic medalist Meerim Zhumanazarova of Kyrgyzstan. In the All-American battle, Piearcy won 10-0 to advance into a bronze medal match against Olympian and World silver medalist Nesrin Bas of Türkiye.

Greco-Roman competition also got underway on Friday with the 77 kg and 87 kg weight classes. Payton Jacobson highlighted the day with an 8-0 technical fall over Poland’s Adam Gardziola before bowing out against age-group World champion Islam Aliev of UWW.
