Jax Forrest runs off mat following victory for Oklahoma State
Jax Forrest (Johnstown, Pa./Oklahoma State University) has been named USA Wrestling Athlete of the Week.
Forrest capped off the collegiate wrestling regular season with a dominant 19-3 technical fall over then No. 6-ranked Drake Ayala of Iowa. Forrest, who is now ranked fifth in the nation at 133 pounds, helped No. 3 Oklahoma State avenge their lone dual loss of the season against No. 5 Iowa, 32-11, this past weekend.
After starting the 2025-26 season in high school, Forrest joined Oklahoma State at the semester break and compiled a record of 6-0 for the Cowboys. Five of his six wins have been bonus point victories (one fall, four technical falls).
Over his last two outings, Forrest has upended top-10 foes in Ayala and then No. 9-ranked Aaron Seidel of Virginia Tech.
Forrest became the youngest Senior World Team member all-time for the U.S. at last year’s World Championships and finished fifth at 61 kg. He followed that up with a U23 World title for his second career age-group World medal.
After bypassing his redshirt this past weekend against Iowa, Forrest now gears up for the Big 12 Championships March 6-7 in Tulsa, Oklahoma.
