The 2025 Veteran World Championships are set for October 7-12 in Tatabanya, Hungary, with the U.S. sending a powerful 55-man squad to compete. This event offers World-level competition for athletes ages 35 and older, with five distinct age divisions contested in both the men’s freestyle and Greco-Roman disciplines.

Seven athletes return to the event as reigning World champions. Ben VomBaur of Colorado is the lone double champion from 2024 to make a repeat appearance for Team USA. VomBaur won freestyle and Greco-Roman gold last year in Group B at 62 kg in Poreč, Croatia.

Additional champions from 2024 coming back for another run include Tyler Graff (Group A, 62 kg), Garret Johnson (Group A, 130 kg), Rudolph James (Group C, 78 kg), Patrick Flynn (Group D, 88 kg), Stephen Horton (Group E, 70 kg) and Kevin Pine (Group E, 88 kg). All six won titles in the freestyle portion of the event last year.

The U.S. has won the team title in men’s freestyle at the previous four Veteran World Championships. On the Greco-Roman side, the U.S. will attempt to reclaim the top spot on the team podium after winning the back-to-back team titles in 2022-23 before coming up short in 2024.

The U.S. totaled 30 individual medals at the 2024 Veteran Worlds with 22 coming in men’s freestyle and 8 in Greco-Roman.

The tournament is set to begin at 10:30 a.m. local time each day, with medal matches scheduled for 6 p.m. Men’s freestyle will run the first three days of the event while Greco-Roman will take up the back half. Tatabanya, Hungary, is six hours ahead of U.S. Eastern Time.

A live stream of the Veteran World Championships will be available to the U.S. marketing through FloWrestling.com. USA Wrestling will provide coverage of the event on TheMat.com.
