A trio of U.S. athletes has been invited to participate overseas at PWL 10, which is set for a 10:30 a.m. U.S. Eastern Time start on Saturday, November 8; Jay Aiello and Nick Lee are featured matchups on the main card.
Aiello, a current U.S. National Team member at 97 kg, headlines the event against highly touted Russian Alikhan Ktsoev. Aiello holds a notable 2-0 record against Russian opponents. He defeated Shamil Imam Gadzhialiev 4-4 at the 2021 U23 Worlds and picked up an 8-1 win against Konstantin Pshenichnikov at PWL 9.
In the past year, Aiello has secured three international medals—gold at the Kunayev D.A. International, plus bronzes from the Bill Farrell Memorial International, Zagreb Open and Polyak Imre & Varga Janos Memorial. He was runner-up at the 2025 CLAW U.S. Open and World Team Trials Challenge Tournament.
Competing for the first time since the U.S. Olympic Team Trials in April 2024, Lee is paired against 2021 World champion Abasgadzhi Magomedov of Russia at 65 kg. Now an assistant coach at his alma mater, Penn State, Lee has a strong international track record as a 2023 U.S. World Team member and 2024 Pan American champion.
Listed on the preliminary card is American Brayton Lee, who was a U20 World Team member in 2019 and an NCAA All-American at the University of Minnesota. Lee squares off against 2019 U20 World silver medalist Kurban Shiraev of Russia at 70 kg.
To international wrestling fans’ delight, the PWL 10 card is littered with past Olympic and World champions, with all three Olympic disciplines featured. Notable names include Olympic champions Zaur Uguev of Russia and Yui Susaki of Japan, plus World champions Magomedov, Malkhas Amoyan of Armenia, Nonoka Ozaki of Japan, Aitzhan Khalmakhanov of Uzbekistan, Sergey Semenov of Russia, Alexander Komarov of Serbia, Eldaniz Azizli of Azerbaijan and Ahmed Usmanov of Russia.
The U.S. has had a presence in the last two PWL events. Olympic champion and four-time World champion Kyle Snyder won bouts over Konstantin Pshenichnikov of Russia and 2023 Senior World champion Rizabek Aitmukhan of Kazakhstan at PWL 8 in Almaty, Kazakhstan. At PWL 9, Russia emerged with a 6-4 dual meet win over the U.S. in Budapest, Hungary. Dean Hamiti, Marcus Coleman, Mike Macchiavello and Aiello each earned individual wins at the event.
PWL 10 will stream live online at pwlworld.tv. Stay tuned to themat.com for complete coverage of the event.
