USA Wrestling is pleased to announce the addition of Stacey Davis of Powder Springs, Ga. as the Officials Development Program Manager, a new position with the organization.  USA Wrestling is the national governing body for wrestling in the United States.

Davis will begin his duties with USA Wrestling on June 16th. He will relocate to USA Wrestling’s national headquarters in Colorado Springs at the conclusion of the school year at Holy Innocents’ Episcopal School, where he has served as the Athletic Department Manager and Head Varsity Wrestling Coach.

As the Officials Development Program Manager, Davis will interface with multiple departments within USA Wrestling while developing recruitment and education materials for officials of all levels of proficiency. He will also be able to lean heavily on his previous experience as an official, a career that culminated with his selection to officiate the 2012 London Olympics.

“This is my dream job,” said Davis, “I am looking forward to this new career path to help USA Wrestling to continue its growth."

With record numbers of members nationwide, USA Wrestling will now have a full-time professional focused on the recruitment and education of officials to further meet its members’ needs. Davis will work closely with USA Wrestling state associations, club and event directors to improve the tournament experience for wrestling’s stakeholders – members, parents and fans.

“We are confident that Stacey’s hiring will be a home run,” said USA Wrestling’s Director of State Services, Tony Black. “I’ve been fortunate to get to know Stacey over the last two decades and have been impressed with his ability to connect with coaches and athletes. Those skills will be evident with those that get to work with Stacey.”

Davis was named USA Wrestling Official of the Year in 2011. In addition to working the 2012 Olympics in London, Davis was a referee at several Senior and age-group World Championships, Pan American competitions, and a variety of major national and regional USA Wrestling events. He served as a member of the U.S. Wrestling Officials Association Board.

Davis’s career in the sport dates back to his youth and scholastic days as a State Champion for T.W. Andrews in High Point, N.C. and continued through his career as a three-year starter at The University of North Carolina - Chapel Hill.  In 2018, he was recognized by the Georgia Chapter of the National Wrestling Hall of Fame with a Lifetime Service to Wrestling award.

Davis and his wife Yolanda are parents to adult sons Lee and Roderick Davis, both former Georgia state champions and NC State wrestlers.
