Michigan Red dominates Ohio Gray, 47–27, to win Junior Women’s National Duals freestyle title

Michigan Red wins 2025 Junior Women's National Duals in freestyle.
WESTFIELD, Ind. – Michigan Red captured the championship title at the 2025 Junior Women’s National Duals in freestyle, defeating Ohio Gray in the finals at the Grand Park Event Center in Westfield, Indiana. This is Michigan's first Junior Women's National Duals title.
Powered by two win streaks in the championship dual, Michigan Red controlled Ohio Gray to win the Junior Women’s National Duals title in freestyle on Friday. In the second match of the dual, Tatianna Castillo (105) pushed Michigan Red ahead to start a four-match win streak. Madison Nieuwenhuis (110), Nakayla Dawson (115) and Cheyenne Frank (120) built a hefty lead early on.
Ohio Gray fought back with a pin from Lacie Knick (125) at 5:31, but Michigan Red’s Faith Burgess (130) responded with a pin of her own at 1:26. Abigail Mozden (135) was able to keep Ohio Gray in the dual with a fall at 1:53.
Michigan Red answered with five straight victories, including two pins from Mackenna Webster (145) and Maddie Hayden (190). Two technical falls added to Michigan Red’s score, from Alexis Lazar (140) and Margaret Buurma (170). Lillee Denson (95) closed out the championship dual for Michigan Red with a 10-0 technical fall.
Thirty six teams battled it out in the Bronze/Copper, Blue/Red, Yellow and Green brackets. Final placements for every color pool are listed below.
