Pennsylvania Blue controls Michigan Blue, 45-31 to win 14U Greco-Roman National Duals title

OAKS, Pa. – Host Pennsylvania Blue came roaring out of the gate with four straight wins and went on to a powerful 45-31 victory over Michigan Blue in the championship dual of the 14U Greco-Roman National Duals on Thursday afternoon.
Pennsylvania has won the 14U Greco-Roman team title for the three straight years that the tournament has been hosted in Pennsylvania. The team, which was seeded sixth in the tournament, went an impressive 7-0 over the two days of competition, with the closest margin of victory by nine team points or more.
The dual opened with three straight bonus point victories for Pennsylvania Blue. Grayden Paris scored a pin in just 57 seconds at 80 pounds, with Michael Nicosia (84) and Ryder Ream (88) following with technical falls. The four-match streak continued with a decision victory by Nelson Villafane at (92). Pennsylvania Blue led 16-2 and never looked back.
Asher Procunier of Michigan Blue stopped the run with a technical fall at 96 pounds, but Pennsylvania Blue’s Evan Restrivo needed just 26 seconds for a technical fall victory at 100 pounds. Pennsylvania Blue finished with 11 victories in the dual meet, with Nathan Fenner (110), Camden Olson (132), Olympic Serrao (140) and Cael Smith (175) getting technical falls, while Grayson Hostetter (120) and Michael Brady (126) won by decision.
Winners for Michigan Blue were Procunier, plus Aden DiGiovanni (105), Jaxon Boucher (115) and Kellen Rabakon (155). Michigan Blue also won the final two bouts by forfeit at 225 pounds and 75 pounds.
Pennsylvania Blue claimed the Gold/Silver Pool A title to reach the finals, with wins over Maryland, Iowa and Wisconsin. Michigan Blue went 2-1 in Gold/Silver Pool B, beating Oklahoma Red and Minnesota Blue, but losing to California. Michigan Blue advance to the finals based upon tie-breaking procedures, as both California and Minnesota Blue were also 2-1 in Gold/Silver Pool B.
Minnesota Blue placed third with a 48-28 win over Iowa. Minnesota Blue won 10 of the 17 matches in the dual meet, with pins by Zeke Mikolyzk (88), Landon Rinke (126), Michael Alexander (140) and Wes Wolke (225), plus five technical falls.
Placing fifth was California, with a strong 43-28 win over Wisconsin in the medal round. California won six straight matches in the middle weights to seal the victory, with Jesse Velasco (115), Joseph Moreno (120), Xander Fronhofer (126), Jessie Valenzuela (132), Thomas Zubia (140) and Julian Villalobos (155) scoring consecutive victories.
Maryland needed to go to criteria to defeat Oklahoma Red for seventh place 39-38. Maryland had nine victories and Oklahoma Red had eight wins in the very close dual meet. Korbin Kiessling’s pin in the final match of the dual meet at 75 pounds gave Maryland its final boost in the dual meet.
Competition also completed in the Bronze/Copper pool, the Red/Blue pool, the Green Pool and the Yellow Pool.
The tournament concludes on Friday and Saturday with the men’s freestyle competition. Pennsylvania is the returning champion in freestyle, as well.
